dr. Kaat Cappelle obtained a Master in law (Ghent University, 2014) and a Master of Arts in History (Ghent University, 2017). She won the Prize for Historical Publications of the City of Ypres in 2014 for her MA thesis on eighteenth-century criminal law.

She recently defended her PhD-dissertation of the legal status of women in 16th Century Antwerp, under the direction of Prof. dr. Dave De ruysscher (9 September 2020). Kaat is currently associated to our research group as voluntary research fellow, and acts as guest lecturer at the Ghent Legal History Institute.

The project Kaat worked on during her PhD, was funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).
