Robrecht Vandemeulebroecke's research interests include moral fictionalism, its problematic aspects and possible ways to overcome them, as well as the philosophy of translation. His doctoral dissertation (The Solemnity of the Gnat. Nietzsche's Tragic Affirmation of Life in a Remote Corner of the Universe, 2011) discussed Nietzsche's reception of Schopenhauerian pessimism and his use of art as a means to live a meaningful life in a meaningless universe.
