On Tuesday 24 November 2015, Dr. Stine Zink Kaasgaard will give a guest lecture entitled ‘On Thoughts Fractured in Existential Surfaces in Kierkegaard’.

The talk of the town is on existence. The question raised in this lecture concerns the possible challenge posed to thought when thought thinks existence. The difficulty is, so we hear in this talk—at least from Johannes Climacus—to create difficulties everywhere. So the question seems to become: which difficulties, and where? It is the outset of this talk to search what I shall call the fractures imposed in thought when existence presents itself, not only as thought about but as thought touched by its own endeavor—to think of, with, in, and by existence. Running counter to, or exactly fracturing systematic thought, we find—perhaps—before any singular philosophical problem presents itself, the difficulty that there are, existentially speaking, difficulties everywhere that disturb any univocal, philosophical formulation.
