Benoit Thienpont

Benoit Thienpont obtained a master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry in 2008. He continued studying to obtain a second master’s degree in Chemistry in 2010 and got a manama in management in 2011. He started his career at VITO within the materials division, as an atmospheric plasma scientist, aiming at altering the surface characteristics of objects without changing the bulk properties. Afterward he joined the Technology Transfer Interface of the VUB.  His main focus was to set-up and follow-up joined University – Industry research projects, including budget estimations and contract negotiations. Since 2017, he has been working on a research project titled “Making micro-encapsulated photonic crystals with micro-fluidic devices”. The aim of the project is to develop a novel and cheap way of making responsive photonic microspheres.
