In 2014 I received my master in Materials Science & Engineering from University of Ioannina, Greece. During my thesis which was entitled "Graphitisation Analysis of Graphene Monocrystals via Raman Spectroscopy", I dealt with the synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of thin films of isolated reduced graphene oxide flakes.
In parallel with my studies, I did a summer internship at METKA S.A, Industrial supplier for producing and assemble Patriot for Raytheon (PATRIOT air defense missile systems), which operates internationally and headquartered in Greece (Athens). This experience empowered me to develop my skills at Destructive and Non-Destructive Testing.
On March 2013, I joined the Dept. of Mechanics of Materials and Constructions (MeMC) Vrije Universiteit (VUB) in Brussels, Belgium, in order to do a research internship for five months. During this period I was mainly focused on Additive Manufacturing metals under fatigue cycling loading and on Self-Healing on concrete.
Since February 2015, I am working as a PhD student at the FYSC department and my research is focusing on the framework of the SBO project ‘CemComStruct’ in which I am ought to develop novel cementitious materials based on wastes or side streams of industry.
A new type of wall structure for buildings will be developed in this project. They will consist of fibre reinforced cementitious skins that will also be the load bearing parts, and a core of an insulating material.
