In Antwerp, I graduated as Bachelor Chemistry at the Plantijnhogeschool in 2005. A bachelor thesis was performed at Degussa Antwerpen NV (now Evonik) entitled "Process control optimization for the optization of product quality". In 2007, I graduated from the Karel de Grote-Hogeschool as Industrial Engineer in Chemistry after finishing a master thesis at Janssen Pharmacauticals entitled "Evaluation and correlation of different analysis techniques to determine particle size distributions".
I enroled for the Master of Science in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2007. After finishing my master thesis "Feasibility study for the development of multiple-action self-healing coatings" at the department of Physical Chemistry and Polymer Science (FYSC), I got awarded with the Solvay Award in 2009.
In september 2009, I started as a PhD student at the FYSC department, working on the Greencoat project. This project comprises the development of multifunctional coatings using durable all-in-one atmospheric plasma processing. The strength of the Greencoat project lies in the collaboration between its multidisciplinary partners, such as SURF department at VUB, CHANI department at ULB, and VITO in Mol.
A new class of polymeric materials has been developped by introducing reversible covalent bonds into covalently cross-linked polymer network systems, resulting in reversible covalent polymer network systems (RCPNS).
