Concrete to concrete (Beton naar hoogwaardig beton)
01.03.2018 - 28.02.2021
The project aims at closing the recycling loop for concrete. Concrete is the most used material on earth but till today, concrete can only be downcycled. In this project, concrete will be crushed into its constituents hydrated cement, unreacted cement, sand and coarse aggregates. The hydrated cement will be reactivated in a microwave furnace using green electricity. In doing so, new high quality concrete products can be produced from waste concrete.
As the use of materials is still increasing with the GDP, several natural resources are getting exhausted. To do more with less material, 3D reinforced concrete panels will be produced from 3D textile (glass, carbon or even natual fibres) and recycled fractions.
