Researchers who want to use census microdata, can obtain access to the data in two ways, depending on their needs:
- For researchers with a specific research question, the Interface Demography research group can provide
a 'custom made' sample file (e.g. 5 per cent), depending on the information the researcher is looking for.
Such a sample contains a limited number of variables (e.g. no information on the municipality of individuals),
so that people cannot be identified.
- In agreement with ADSEI, for researchers who need a larger sample and/or a larger number of variables, resulting
in a file in which identification of people can no longer be excluded, access can be granted to the full data,
provided they obtain permission from the Privacycommission of Belgium (CPP).
