Janine Hauthal

Janine Hauthal studied English and Drama/Theatre in Giessen (D) and Bristol (GB). After working as research assistant and assistant professor at the universities of Giessen and Wuppertal (D), she is currently Postdoctoral Fellow of the Research Foundation – Flanders at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (BE). Her dissertation on Metadrama and Theatricality received the bi-annual award of the German Society for Contemporary Theatre and Drama in English in 2008. Her research interests include metaization across media and genres, contemporary British drama, transgeneric and inter/cross-cultural narratology, as well as postdramatic theatre in Europe. She is currently working on the monograph Britain in Europe: The Emergence of Post-Insular Identities and Transcultural Discourses in Contemporary British Literature.
