Symposium & Expo Re/Building Brussels on February 10, 2022

The Brussels-Capital Region's urban environment is continually evolving. Hundreds of contractors, carpenters, plumbers, ironsmiths and other craftsmen have made Brussels what it is today. How can we safeguard the role and presence of the construction sector in the city in a sustainable and inclusive way?

In the symposium and exhibition 'Re/Building Brussels', historians, geographers and architectural engineers from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel present research results that, through an interdisciplinary approach, sketch the composition, organisation and place of the building sector in the urban space from 1695 to the present day. Together with Brussels Bouwmeester/Maître Architecte Kristiaan Borret and international speakers Judy Stephenson (The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction) and Gilli Hobbs (Sustainability and Circular Economy Advisor), we look ahead.
