Prestigious PhD thesis award for Matthijs Degraeve

The prize for the best doctoral dissertation in business history is awarded to Matthijs Degraeve during the 23rd Annual Congress of the European Business History Association, in June 2022, Madrid. This prize is awarded every two years and it is the first time that a Belgian researcher is awarded.

The dissertation ‘Building Brussels. Construction Entrepreneurs in a Transforming Urban Space (1830-1970)’ was supervised by Heidi Deneweth, Stephanie Van de Voorde and Inge Bertels, who cooperated in the interdisciplinary research project Building Brussels. Brussels city builders and the production of space, 1794-2016.
