  • 19.15-20.00: Lecture by Londa Schiebinger (Stanford University): Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering, and Environment
This talk identifies three strategic approaches that industry and governments have taken to gender in science research, policy, and practice: 1) fix the numbers of women; 2) fix the institutions; and 3) fix the knowledge. The talk will treat each approach, but focus on introducing the Gendered Innovations project. Through international collaborations, this project: 1) develops state-of-the-art methods of sex and gender analysis for scientists and engineers; 2) provides case studies as concrete illustrations of how gender analysis leads to new knowledge and innovation. Several case studies will be presented.
