ChemCYS 2014 conference
A. Ruzettelaan 195, 8370 Blankenberge
The youth division of the Royal Flemish Chemical Society (Jong-KVCV) organizes the 12th edition of its “Chemistry Conference for Young Scientists” (ChemCYS 2014) on Feburary 27-28, 2014. The conference will take place at conference center Duinse Polders in Blankenberge, Belgium.
ChemCYS is specifically aimed towards young researchers of a broad range of chemistry related topics. The program tries to maximize the active participation of the conference’s attendants. Previous editions have proven to be an ideal opportunity for young researchers to present (for the first time) their own work on an internationally recognized conference through an oral or poster presentation.
Keynote Speakers:
- Christine Van Broeckhoven (University of Antwerp, Belgium): Molecular pathways underlying neurodegenerative processes in dementia
- Philip Taylor (European Commission, JRC, IRMM, Belgium): Plug and play: also in analysis?
- Klaus Roth (FU-Berlin, Germany): Beer - from the first glass to a hangover
Seminars:
Santiago Gómez-Ruiz (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Spain): The art of writing (Lecture/workshop on scientific writing)
- TrainMiC: Producing quality assured analytical data for your PhD
Topics:
- Advanced Materials Chemistry
- Analytical and Environmental Chemistry
- Biochemistry and Biotechnology
- Inorganic Chemistry
- Organic and Medicinal Chemistry
- Physical and Theoretical Chemistry
On these 6 topics, both oral and poster presentation sessions are organized. The best oral and poster presentation of each of these 6 topics will be awarded a prize by a professional jury.
KaféCV, which is also part of the conference program, is an informal activity where participants meet people from industry and exchange impressions and experiences on a professional career in the chemical industry.
Registration is open via the registration form on our website.
Important deadlines:
- Abstract submission: December 1, 2013
- Passive participation registration: February 1, 2014
The number of participants for oral presentations is limited. Participants will be selected based on their abstract by a jury of experts.
No limits have been set for the number of participants for the poster sessions.
