HUICHOLES: The last Peyote guardians - Come meet genuine Mexican shamans!

Experience a shamanic blessing and learn about the Huichol people’s harrowing battle to protect their sacred mountain, the Wirikuta, against the destruction of the surface mining by First Majestic Silver Corp. Vrije Universiteit Brussel, KUL, Mexicanos en Belgica and the Mexico-EU International Cooperation Observatory organize a free screening of the documentary “Huicholes : The last Peyote guardians” at the VUB.

Peyote is a hallucinogenic plant used for sacred rituals and healing by the Huicholes tribe.

The two shamans of the Huicholes tribe asked Hernan Vilchez, the documentary director, to help them share their story, and are traveling the World to raise awareness about their cause. They will also come to the VUB, where you are warmly invited to partake in the blessing, enjoy the movie and a sandwich afterwards. All for free (voluntary donations to the Huicholes cause are welcome on site).
