Closing lecture by Prof. Michael Browne on City Distribution

This final lecture by Prof. Michael Browne in the VUB Chair series about city distribution is titled ‘Grocery retailing in the UK’- A model for control of the supply chain that tackles the questions with regards to the rise of discounters, the shift to more online shopping and the increasing number of small format stores. What is the impact of this new concept of retail on society? After the presentation of prof. Michael Browne, a number of Belgian companies will present their case: Felix Vanvuchelen from Bubble Post and Anders Asarby from Smartmat. The presentations will be followed by a debate.

About Prof. Michael Browne

Prof. Michael Browne Prof Michael Browne, formerly Professor of Logistics at the University of Westminster, London and currently visiting professor at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden has acquired an international research standing in the area of urban freight and logistics. His research focusses on sustainable distribution and green logistics strategies, best practices in distribution in European cities, potential energy savings from city logistics strategies, mapping energy use in global supply chains and forecasting future trends in freight transport and distribution. In addition, prof Browne is the Associate Editor of the journalTransport Reviews and is a member of the editorial boards of several journal including the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management and Supply Chain Forum.
