China Investment in the EU: Preference and Perspectives

Wednesday, 28 November, 2018 - 15:30
Campus: Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering campus

In 2017, the Chinese outward FDI dropped nearly 30%. But its investment to the EU, especially the major member states such as Germany, UK, France, Italy, The Netherlands, has continued to grow. In the first half year of 2018, China has invested 9 times more into Europe then Northern America. Why do Chinese companies prefer to go to Europe instead of Northern America? What is the future tendency of Chinese FDI to Europe?

The European Institute for Asian Studies, the Confucius Institute at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Brussels Academy for China and European Studies will organise the workshop and invite Chinese and European experts to discuss the issues at Asian Platform, from 16:00 to 18:00 on 28 November.
