information session

Dear master student or master
Dear chairmen of the departments and research groups
Dear professors, promotors

Each year the VUB organizes an information session on doctoral grants Strategic Basic Research (PhD - FWOSB) and we hope herewith to reach out, inspire and encourage our students to engage with science at the VUB.

A Doctoral Grant Strategic Basic Research allows young researchers to develop into strategically thinking and innovation-oriented scientists. Strategic basic research in the context of a PhD grant stands for challenging and innovative research (at PhD level), which, if successful, may in the longer term lead to innovative applications with economic added value (for specific companies, for a collective of companies, or a sector, or in line with the VRWI transition areas).

The information session will focus on profile, conditions, procedures and new elements introduced in the funding scheme and is open to master students, professors and supervisors of PhD students. Invited guest speaker is dr. Dirk Otte, FWO Science Policy Advisor Strategic Basic Research.

The call 2018 opens mid-June 2018, submission deadline September 17, 2018 (17.00). The fellowship starts on January 1, 2019. All information can be found on the FWO website.
