Open house I-X-Y buildings

Thursday, 17 October, 2019 - 13:30 to Thursday, 17 October, 2019 - 16:00

On Thursday 17 October, VUB officially opens the I, X and Y buildings on the Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering campus. Curious colleagues and students can come and visit the I building between 11.30 and 14.00.

Transforming a gigantic wasteland of 20 hectares into a green campus with student accommodation – that was the big challenge facing a very young VUB in 1969. The Willy Van Der Meeren student houses, the Braem building, Auditorium Q and many other landmarks of the new campus shot up like mushrooms in the following years. Fifty years later, the number of students continues to rise and our campuses are expanding further.

On 17 October, several new buildings will open on our Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering campus in Ixelles:

the I building – with classrooms
the X buildings – with student accommodation, housing services, student finance services, student job services and security services
the Y building – with Pilar, exhibition space and boardroom
With 650 new student rooms, classrooms, meeting rooms and the new house of arts and science Pilar, this will be the largest expansion of VUB’s main campus since 1969.

On 17 October, VUB invites all employees and students to discover the new I building and the latest technological possibilities between 11.30 and 14.00. Our colleagues from AV Services will explain the available teaching technologies such as whiteboards, teleclassing and the recording of lectures.

There’s no need to register; just drop by during your lunch break. We will be expecting you in the stairwell of the I building (see the orange arrows on the picture below).

Curious about what the Y building has to offer? Then be sure to visit the Pilar ASAP-festival: The For X's Sake Edition or the expo JRSLM, both starting on 18 October.

We will be expecting you in the stairwell of the I building between 11.30 and 14.00.
