Engineering studens about their experience abroad

Be inspired by these testimonials!

My exchange abroad was a life-changing experience, an enlightenment and broadened my horizon: I learned a new language and discovered a new culture, I learnt to step outside my comfort zone and I opened my eyes to live my life in a more open and daring way. The professional and personal connections I made with local and international friends from all over world will last a lifetime and so will my memories of this great experience.

Guillaume Dotreppe, Electromechanical Engineering, Politecni di Milano, Italië

Doing a TIME exchange at DTU gives you the opportunity to study at a very advanced and fast-growing university, discover a wide range of research fields on the most actual topics and learn with hands-on teaching methods. At DTU you have the possibility to choose and plan all your courses out of a very brought curriculum with large flexibility. This way you can tailor your degree to the subjects that interest you the most. A two-year exchange is not only an academic exchange but is the kickstart to various new experiences regarding worldwide connections, discovering new cultures, experiencing new traditions, becoming independent and open up numerous opportunities for your work and life after graduating.

International students talk about their experience at VUB

VUBs international and multicultural identity reflects the city of Brussels at the vibrant heart of Europe

Sara Belarouf, Chemicals and Materials Engineering, Rabat University, Morocco

"As a PhD-student from Morocco, my 5-month exchange to VUB allowed me to carry out more laboratory analyses, working with a wealth of materials, tools, machines and products that I did not have access to before. In addition, I have also improved my English by talking to my professors who were extremely supportive of my research by providing new insights and thoughts."

Internationalisation at home

Engineering students can benefit from a wide range of internationalisation at home initiatives throughout the academic year

Initiatives as part of the Faculty

Erasmus Student Network

The ESN Buddy programme brings local and international students together to explore the university, culture and local customs

International Summer Schools

Every year, the Faculty of Engineering hosts a Summer School for Chinese students. The BEST network organises several summer initiatives for Engineering students across Europe.

Guest professors and virtual classes

The 10 Msc Degrees welcome every year a number of guest professors, sometimes in combination with virtual classes or MOOCs

VUB students about internationalisation at VUB

These initiatives give all students a chance to broaden their horizons with regard to internationalisation

The ESN Buddy Programme ensures that there is a great connection between local students and international students to make them feel welcomed and settled in. Often local students in our programme do not have the opportunity yet to go abroad, and this gives them a great opportunity to experience internationalisation at their home university.

Paola Mureddu, Buddy Coordinator ESN VUB EhB Brussels

Out of sight but not out of mind
