INTEGRITY, ETHICS AND DATA MANAGEMENT
As a senior researcher, you are a role model for young researchers and bear a certain responsibility for safeguarding scientific integrity – from the project funding application to publication. We are committed to informing and supporting our researchers, and equipping them to deal with an ever-changing scientific context.

INTEGRITY AND ETHICS
The VUB Charter for researchers (new version coming November 2018) offers a number of guidelines on ethics and integrity. In addition, there are training and info sessions to offer clarity on questions such as:
- How can I stimulate the members of my team to apply the highest standards of scientific integrity?
- How can I ensure that my group’s research is ethically sound?
- Where can I get information on the various ethical committees and on submitting applications?
- Which legislation is relevant to my research? For example, what are the consequences of the recent introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for handling my data?
A link to register for sessions is coming soon. In the meantime, you can ask for more information via e-mail.
DATA MANAGEMENT
There is also increasing demand for a more transparent way of collecting, processing and managing data. In support of this evolution, we provide online resources:
- A presentation as introduction to “good practices” in research data management;
- Online templates and personal help for drawing up a data management plan (DMP) for you or for your students (new - coming November 2018).
For more information or personal help you can contact us via e-mail: dmp@vub.be.
