Trade Mission network event Solvay Business School students in Colombia a big success

The annual trade mission of last year master students at the Solvay Business School VUB has reached a new pinnacle, since the start of this project in 1991. This year, 22 students will execute tailor-made assignments on the Colombian market, representing 21 Belgian companies, including flagship companies from the port and logistics industry, the dredging, construction and engineering industry, and the natural resources and semi-finished goods trading. This number exceeds the record of 2011, when 20 companies participated to the trade mission to Jakarta.

On Tuesday February 26th, AWEX and the Belgian Embassy organized a networking event for this trade mission within the beautiful environment of the residence of the Belgian Ambassador to Colombia, HE Sadi Paul Brancart. More than 100 persons attended this high-profile event, including key persons from the Colombian business society, as well as Belgian expats, including VUB and ULB Solvay Schools Alumni. This event certainly contributes to the success of the trade mission and also puts the VUB/ULB Solvay Schools on the global map, highlighting the entrepreneurial and international character of our Master students.

Both HE Ambassador Brancart, and prof. dr. Michaël Dooms, who leads the trade mission, emphasized the strong economic position and excellent reputation of Colombia, and the necessity to strengthen economic ties between both countries.
