Prof. Christopher Kuner Receives Japanese Award for Contributions to Consumer Protection

Professor Christopher Kuner of VUB’s Brussels Privacy Research Hub was recently presented with the Best Consumer Supporter award and medal of the Japanese government’s Consumer Affairs Agency. The award celebrates services to Japanese consumers. It was granted to professor Kuner because of his expertise in data protection law and his promotion of the EU’s data protection law in Japan. Japan is currently reforming its privacy law – with the invaluable assistance of foreign experts like Prof. Kuner.

The Japanese ambassador to the European Union, Keiichi Katakami, hosted a dinner in professor Kuner’s honour.
