VUBToday: The Guardian has a crush on the Brussels university district

Amsterdam, Barcelona or London are traditionally seen as European cities with many trendy neighborhoods. Those cities are well-known destinations for city trips. But the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’ considers Brussels as one of the trendiest cities in Europe, especially the University Quarter. This neighbourhood is located in Ixelles and Etterbeek and is just outside the tourist center, marked by its huge cosmopolitan population. The range of bars, restaurants, shops, start-ups, events and parties is therefore very diverse. More and more students from all over the world find their way to this neighborhood. According to The Guardian, the student population has attracted an influx of talent and investments in recent years. The Brussels university district is proud to occupy the second place in the top 10 of ‘Coolest Neighborhoods in Europe’. Järntorget / Långgatorna in Gothenburg, Sweden, is the winner of the ranking.
