The Research Group Microbiology and Infection Prevention focuses on diagnosis, epidemiology, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

  • Microbiology: Diagnosis, treatment and epidemiology of infectious diseases, especially pertussis, diphtheria, legionellosis, Verotoxin-producing E. coli infections, new bacterial identification techniques, Burkholderia cepacia complex in cystic fibrosis patients, anaerobic infections & antibiotic sensitivity, HIV infection and AIDS, and congenital infections (CMV, toxoplasmosis).
  • Infection Prevention: surveillance and prevention of nosocomial infections

Ear, nose and throat: Hearing loss and congenital CMV infection, sinusitis, assessment of the influence of nasal versus oral breathing on the craniofacial development.
