Free entrance

William H. Whyte, 1980
An original film studying how people use urban spaces. Why do some open spaces ‘work’ and others don’t? This classic 1980 study of New York's plazas started a mini-revolution in urban planning and design.
Introduction by Prof. Dr. Pol Ghekiere (landscape architecture - EhB)

Urban Movie 2 Brussels, fragments of happiness
Jef Cornelis, 1995
This unusual documentary tries to understand why this city had turned from a ’dazzling city’ into a ’forbidden’ one for so many Flemings and Walloons.
Introduction by Prof. Dr. Els Enhus (criminology - VUB)

Urban Movie 3 La haine
Mathieu Kassovitz, 1995
A gritty and visually explosive look at the racial and cultural volatility in Paris’ banlieues

Urban Movie 5 LES BARONS
Nabil Ben Yadir, 2009
Calling themselves 'Les Barons', three friends spend their days loafing around in adhering to a curious theory which postulates that the fewer steps one takes in a lifetime, the richer and more satisfying one's interior life.
