Every day, approximately 60 Belgians have a stroke or a blood clot in their brains. In cases like these, fast diagnoses save lives. UZ Brussel has developed a system whereby highly specialised care already starts in the ambulance.

Curious to get all the details about the 'building bricks for life-saving stroke care'? VUB's Technology Transfer Interface (TTI) and the UZ Brussel researchers will present this new technology at the TTO Flanders booth at Knowledge for Growth. To visualize the telemonitoring system and to attract the attention of the boot's visitors, a complete set-up has been made in LEGO building bricks.

On Thursday the 21th of May 2015, FlandersBio organises the 11th edition of its annual life sciences convention Knowledge for Growth in Ghent. Knowledge for Growth is Europe’s leading regional life sciences convention with more than 1.120 participants from over 330 life sciences companies and organisations.

VUB's TTI will share a booth with its tech-transfer colleagues of other Flemish universities, joined in the TTO Flanders platform. Each university will promote its biotech offers and expertise centres and will highlight one particular application. VUB's TTI will show the in-ambulance telemonitoring technology developed at the Center for Neurosciences of the VUB and UZ Brussel. A quick diagnosis and start of treatment are crucial with patients suffering from a stroke. This system provides in-ambulance diagnosis through audio-visual communication with a doctor specialised in stroke care. The technology will be valorised by the university spin-off Zebra academy.
