The Confucius Institute at VUB and the EU-China Higher Education Research Center warmly invite you to join the open lecture on “National Strategies to Build World-Class Universities in China” that will take place on the 2nd October 2017, from 12:00 to 14:00.

Abstract

At the age of Knowledge economy, world-class universities are playing more crucial roles in economic and social development. Dozens of countries and regions started their national strategies to build world-class universities, with China from the mid-1990s. The lecture will analyse the concept of a world-class university, introduce the national strategies to build world-class universities in China, and analyse the effects, problems of the strategies and future policy trends.

Speaker

Liu Baocun is a Professor of comparative education and the director of the Institute of International and Comparative Education (IICE) at Beijing Normal University. He is also the director of the National Center for Comparative Education at Beijing Normal University and Director of the National Center for International Education at Beijing Normal University.

He serves as president of Comparative Education Society of Asia (CESA), president of China Comparative Education (CCES), Board Member of World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES), Board Member of Chinese Society of Education, Board Member of Chinese Society of Education Development Strategy, Supervisory Board Member of China Foreign Intelligence Introduction Society, co-editor of the International and Comparative Education.
