The End of Financial Alchemy: Some issues of Belgian and European monetary and financial law and economics since the Financial Crisis of 2008
Faculteit: Law and Criminology
Vrije Universiteit Brussel
U-Residence, Gen. Jacqueslaan 271, 1050 Brussels
Foreword
After the last financial and economic crisis promises have been made to bring about change. On a global scale, law-makers promised to do everything in their power to avoid a repetition of the 2007-2009 financial drama and thus to change the foundations of our monetary and financial systems. The Stewardship of Finance conferences aim to evaluate these promises and to investigate if changes really took place from a critical (inter)disciplinary perspective.
The texts of Stewardship of Finance conferences are published in the Series Economic and Financial Law & Policy – Shifting Insights & Values (Series Editors: Koen Byttebier & Kim Van der Borght) (Springer Verlag, Heidelberg)
Monograph
Due to the extensive scope of ‘the end of financial alchemy’, two conferences have been organized to cover this subject. Where the focus of the first conference (11.05.17) lies on the monetary and financial systems, the second conference (20.12.17) focuses more on human and societal aspects. A peer-reviewed monograph will be published covering both conferences.
The peer-reviewed monograph will be published by Springer:
