EU-China 15 years Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

dinsdag, 2 oktober, 2018 - 08:30
Egmont Palace
Place du Petit Sablon 8 1000 Brussels

Both the EU and China have started to talk about the EU-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership since 2003. The EU and China had different definitions and expectations. In the EU it went through from Barroso to Junker Commission, and China had the power transition from Hu Jintao-Wen Jiabao to Xi Jinping. China had new idea of EU-China strategic partnership in 2013 by Xi Jinping, i.e. the partnership for Peace, Growth, Reform and Civilization. The European side has less clear thinking. Even though the EU-China relation continues to
development, with the new background of the Trump Administration in the United Stated. How to assess the development of the EU-China strategic partnership in the last 15 years and how to look at the future? The Confucius Institute at Vrijie Universiteit Brussel and the Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, working together with the EU Asian Centre (EUAC) and Brussels Academy for China and European Studies (BACES) invite you to join the academic debate together with scholars from Europe and China on 2 October 2018, from 9:00 to 13:00 at Egmont Palace.
