International Conference on "Optimizing athletes' employability"
Auditorium P. Brouwer
FREE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON OPTIMIZING ATHLETES’ EMPLOYABILITY
B-WISER: BE A WINNER IN ELITE SPORT AND EMPLOYMENT BEFORE AND AFTER ATHLETIC RETIREMENT
With the support from the Erasmus+ Sport Programme of the European Union, a consortium of universities, national Olympic and Paralympic committees, and elite sport centres from six EU Member States (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) together with international experts in elite sport, career counselling, employment and HR, initiated the project Be a Winner In elite Sport and Employment before and after athletic Retirement: B-WISER.
By identifying the existing support structures and measures, the competencies required by athletes, and the added value for employers, B-WISER aims at optimizing the employability and employment of athletes in three specific career stages: (1) when they are active in elite sport, (2) when they have retired from elite sport and are preparing for a first-time employment, and (3) when they are employed in their post-athletic career.
On behalf of the B-WISER consortium we are pleased to invite you to join us for our international conference on December 12 at the Health Campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Belgium. Apart from international experts’ reflections on the results, the value and implications of the B-WISER project, the programme offers parallel workshops where participants learn how specific tools and instruments are used in working with active and former elite athletes. The final programme can be found attached (see bottom of the page).
We are looking forward to seeing you in Brussels for an exciting international symposium on optimizing athletes’ employability! While participation is free, registration is required below. Registration runs until December 1.

Paul Wylleman, Koen De Brandt, Simon Defruyt & Sofie Smismans
