Research without borders? Ethics of International research co-operation.
U - Residence - Green Room
john.pearson@vub.be
Research internationalisation is vital for an open and modern university like the VUB. International research co-operation brings impact, visibility, quality, and (of course) funding. But internationalisation can have its dark sides: the problems of human rights violations, industrial espionage, and working with questionable regimes cannot be ignored, particularly when they touch the VUB community directly. During this session, the VUB research community will have the chance to discuss the challenges of international collaboration with a panel of policy-makers.
During this panel session, VUB researchers and policy makers will have the chance to respond to the ethical issues relating to international research collaboration.
Panel: Rector Caroline Pauwels; Vice-Rector Internationalisation Romain Meeusen; Professor Luk Van Langenhove (Institute for European Studies); Jade Pieters (Student journal 'De Moeial')
Location: Green Room (Groene Zaal), Campus Etterbeek
Time: 09:30-11:00
