Introduction

Elisabetta Fiocchi Malaspina will present her monography L'eterno ritorno del Droit des gens di Emer de Vattel (secc. XVIII-XIX). L'impatto sulla cultura giuridica in prospettiva globale, published in 2017 in the Global Perspectives on Legal History Series by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (Frankfurt am Main).

The book investigates the global impact of the Droit des gens with regard to the different political realities, the historical and legal contexts as well as the attempts, mechanisms and strategies used to put these ideas into practice and establish new doctrine between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Biographical note

Elisabetta Fiocchi Malaspina is Assistant Professor of Legal History at the Law Faculty of the University of Zurich (Switzerland). She received her M.A. in   Law at the University of Milan and her Ph.D. in Legal History at the University of Genoa (Italy), and she was awarded several research grants from the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (Frankfurt a. M., Germany).
