‘From demolition to preservation’: a new Applied PhD project, in collaboration with Rotor

January 1st 2022: the start of the new year, and the start of a new research project for Louise Huba! Louise will investigate how we can encourage the preservation of buildings rather than their demolition in order to decrease the amount of construction & demolition waste. To realise such a paradigm shift, Louise will look into why buildings are demolished and how we can influence decisions that precede (premature) demolition. This will be related to architectural obsolescence and narratives on the city and architectural heritage. Within this Applied PhD, financed by Innoviris, Louise will be supervised by Stephanie Van de Voorde and Ine Wouters (VUB-ARCH), as well as Lionel Billiet and Michael Ghyoot (Rotor).
