The aim of the PhD research is to contibute to a more holistic and yet more practical understanding of the history and the heritage of the Belgian power industry. Both the organisational stages and the technical realisations of the Belgian power industry will be identified, interpretated and compared to those of neighboring countries. The study of primary sources combined with a countrywide field survey will furthermore allow to identify objects which are emblematic of the particular way in which the history of electric power materialised in Belgium.
