Third European Summer School on Construction History CH.ESS 2013 in Munich

The third European Summerschool on Construction History, which is dedicated to the topic 'The role of Timber in Construction - between Tradition and Innovation' took place in Munich from 4-17 August 2013. Students and teachers in Architecture, Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering from eight universities took part. From the Vrije Universiteit Brussels and the Université Libre de Bruxelles the following six students were selected: Marianne De Fosse, Louis Vandenabeele, Michael El kadi, Cindy Ermens, Marijke Tondeur and Madalina Lupchian. Students bring the knowlegde from lectures and workshops into practice by analysing and assessing historic timber roofs onsite such as the medieval structure of the 'Old Palace' of the Bavarian dukes. Next to professors Ine Wouters, Inge Bertels and Bernard Espion from VUB and ULB, the students will be surrounded by experts from the Universität der Bundeswehr München, the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus, the Universita Di Bologna, the Wraclow University of Technology, the Technische Universität Graz and the University of Cambridge.
