Hoe werkt de interactieve campuskaart Mazemap?
General
What is MazeMap?
MazeMap is an interactive wayfinding application that helps students, visitors, and staff easily find their way around campus. The map shows both outdoor areas and the interiors of buildings, including rooms, services, and facilities, all organised by floor.
Which devices can I use MazeMap on?
MazeMap works in your web browser on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. There’s no need to install a separate app — you can access it directly via your browser. If you prefer, you can also download the app from the Play Store or Apple App Store.
Search and navigation
How do I search for a location?
At the top of the page, you’ll find a search bar labeled “Search for Point of Interest.” Simply type the name of a room, service, or building. Results will appear automatically as you type.
How do I get directions?
Click on a location on the map or select one from the search results. In the information panel that appears, click the orange “Directions” button. You can then enter a starting point and destination to calculate your route.
Can I navigate between different buildings?
Yes. MazeMap supports both indoor and outdoor navigation. It automatically calculates a route that guides you from outside to inside and between floors. You’ll also receive clear turn-by-turn directions.
How do I switch floors?
On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll find the floor selector. Click on the desired floor number to view that level of the building.
Can I track my live location?
If you are outdoors on campus, you can track your live location. Click the location icon on the right side of the interface to share your position. Indoors, GPS may be less accurate or unavailable. In that case, MazeMap will guide you with turn-by-turn directions instead.
Can I use MazeMap if I have reduced mobility?
Yes. MazeMap allows users with reduced mobility to find the most accessible route. When creating a route, you can enable the option “Avoid stairs and obstacles.”
Categories and Points of Interest
What are "Categories"?
Using the “Categories” button in the top-left corner, you can quickly display specific types of locations on the map. Examples include AEDs (defibrillators), facilities, bike parking, food & drinks, and restrooms.
What is an AED and where can I find one?
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a device used in case of cardiac arrest. By selecting the “AED” category, you can instantly see all AED locations on the map. They are also visible as icons directly on the map.
What can I find under "Facilities"?
This category includes general campus services and amenities, such as security, administrative desks, and other support services.
Map display and settings
Can I view the map in 3D?
Yes. There is a “3D” button in the top-right corner of the map that allows you to switch to a three-dimensional view of the buildings and surroundings.
How do I change the language?
Click the settings icon (gear symbol) at the top of the page to open the settings menu. There, you can change the language. The application is available in Dutch and other languages.
Is there a mode for users with visual impairments?
Yes. In the settings, you can enable “high contrast mode” for better readability. There is also a “screen reader mode” available for users who rely on screen readers.
Apps and extra features
Can I navigate to my classroom from my schedule?
Yes. MazeMap integrates with TimeEdit. In your schedule, you’ll find an extra column with a direct link to your classroom in MazeMap, allowing you to quickly navigate to your class.
Can I share a location with someone else?
Yes. Using the share button (arrow icon) at the top of the page, you can generate and share a direct link to a specific location. The recipient will open the map directly at that location.
What does the heart icon do?
The favourites button (heart icon) allows you to save locations for quick access later. You can also mark a location as a favourite via the heart icon in the information panel.
Issues and support
The map isn’t loading. What should I do?
Check that your internet connection is active and refresh the page. Also make sure you’re using an up-to-date browser. MazeMap works best in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
I found an error on the map or a location is missing. What should I do?
You can report issues using the feedback button at the bottom of the search panel. Alternatively, you can contact the campus map administrator (usually the facilities or IT department). This helps improve navigation for everyone.
