Start with the basics

During the Open Days, visitors experience first-hand what studying at the VUB looks like in practice. They can walk through lecture halls, talk to lecturers and students, and get a real feel for campus life. For prospective bachelor’s students, the day ideally begins with the session “Ready for Higher Education”. This introduction offers clear guidance on higher education, choosing a programme and studying at the VUB.

After that, visitors can build their own programme. They can attend one or more programme sessions, join a campus tour, or speak with staff and students at the information markets.

New this year: programmes grouped in clusters

A new feature this year is that programmes are organised into clusters during the Open Days. Related programmes are located in the same building, making it easier for visitors to explore several study options within a single area of interest.

On the Main Campus in Etterbeek, three major clusters are highlighted:

  • Science, Engineering & Movement – for those who want to understand the world, build new solutions or explore human movement. This cluster includes programmes such as engineering sciences, artificial intelligence, physics, biology and movement sciences.
  • People & Society – for those interested in how people live together and how societies are organised. Programmes include law, economics, psychology, sociology and political science.
  • Humanities & Philosophy – for visitors who want to analyse culture, language and history, and think critically about the past and the future.

In Building F, visitors can also meet the university’s support services. Staff are available to provide information on student guidance, study financing, accommodation, international mobility, elite sports and language programmes.

Also welcome at Campus Jette

Visitors interested in health-related programmes can head to the Health Campus in Jette. Here they can discover degrees such as Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy. The medical campus shows how scientific research and professional practice come together. Students study in an environment where science and healthcare are closely connected.

Studying does not only happen in lecture halls. During the Open Days, visitors can therefore explore the campuses themselves. Student guides lead tours in both Etterbeek and Jette, showing libraries, study spaces, green areas and student facilities.
Those curious about student accommodation can also visit student residences on both campuses.

Ask all your questions

Throughout the day, various university services are present to help visitors with questions about:

  • accommodation and student life in Brussels
  • study financing and student status
  • international exchanges
  • study guidance and support
  • combining elite sports with studying

Lecturers and students are also there to share their experiences.

Brussels as a student city

Studying at the VUB means studying in the heart of Brussels. Students meet people from all over the world, collaborate with international partners and study in a city that is constantly evolving. For many prospective students, the Open Days are therefore their first introduction to the place where they may spend the coming years studying, living and growing.
