Living Lab on the VUB Main Campus
VUB staff can reserve guest rooms on the campus in Etterbeek within the Living Lab, the former Willy Van Der Meeren student residences. You will stay in one of eight simple single rooms, with shared bathroom facilities and a basic kitchen. Bookings are made using an internal PKC code.
What is the Living Lab?
The guest rooms are part of the WVDM Living Lab, a testing ground for heritage and renovation on the VUB campus. The building was designed in the 1970s by Willy Van Der Meeren and housed generations of students. Today it serves as a laboratory to explore how “young heritage” – buildings that are barely 50 years old – can be made future-proof.
In the Living Lab, heritage value, sustainability, energy efficiency and affordability come together. Researchers, architects and building partners developed and tested innovative renovation strategies here, including preserving the existing concrete structure, introducing flexible layouts, and using demountable and reusable components.
The result? A building that not only honours the past, but also actively contributes to the sustainable city of tomorrow.
Adagio Access Brussels Delta Aparthotel
Adagio Access Brussels Delta is situated opposite the CHIREC hospital, a 5-minute walk from the VUB Main Campus. They offer 120 studios for 2 to 4 persons, for short or medium-term stays. Breakfast, a gym and parking are available.

The rates below are for the room only. In addition, there is a city tax of € 4.25 per person per night and optional breakfast for € 14 per person.
