Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB)

The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is our sister university. We share a common past and the same values, and we work closely together in education, research and engagement. Together, we are building a new campus: Usquare, a renovation project converting the old barracks of Elsene into a new and open university centre, and the Learning and Innovation Centre, a new university building that will offer VUB and ULB students various learning environments.

Brussels University Alliance (BUA)

The joint projects of ULB and VUB have been taking shape since 2013 under the umbrella of the Brussels University Alliance. This is where synergies arise between the two universities and where we build together on our teaching, research, engagement, infrastructure, and international visibility.

Erasmus University College Brussels (EhB)

We cooperate with the Erasmus University College Brussels (EhB) to strengthen our education and to better position our teacher training programmes in Brussels. We also join forces in the field of science communication and in many other educational and research projects. We share a common campus, the VUB Health Campus.

It involves a partnership in the following areas: education, study guidance, student policy, research, internationalisation, communication, ICT, library, and infrastructure. Together, we represent more than 26,000 students, about two thirds of all Dutch-speaking college and university students in Brussels.

VUB Brussels City Campus

Under the name of VUB Brussels City Campus, together with ULB, EHB and Brussels organisations like deBuren, Bozar and Beurschouwburg, we contribute to the development of a free, connected, and committed society. We do this through education, research and engagement in, with, and for Brussels. Our students and scientists join forces with Brussels-based organisations to find solutions to societal challenges.

Brussels School of Governance

The Institute for European Studies and Vesalius College - two VUB institutes dealing with international politics - cooperate under the name of Brussels School of Governance. This institution conducts interdisciplinary research and teaches public policy within four domains: environment, digitalisation, defence and security, and migration. By taking a closer look at the interaction between these four domains, we can arm ourselves against the societal challenges that each of them poses.
