After you graduate, you can collect your diploma from your faculty.

This is your original diploma, which is issued only once. If later you need a copy of your diploma for any reason, you can request that. In the menu you will find more info about:

Please contact the faculty you graduated from to check if and how you can still collect your diploma.

Diploma lost, stolen or damaged?

Then you can request a duplicate of your diploma and/or diploma supplement under certain conditions. A duplicate costs €50 and can only be requested once.

Is a proof of graduation sufficient?
=> Then you don't need to request a copy of your diploma, and can simply use your graduation certificate.

How to request a copy?

To request a duplicate of your diploma and/or diploma supplement:

1. Complete the ‘Duplicate diploma (supplement)’ form.
2. Clearly state why you need a replacement: loss, theft, damage or illegibility.
3. Indicate whether you need a duplicate of your diploma, diploma supplement or both documents.

VUB will assess your request in consultation with the faculty concerned. If your request is approved, you will receive payment instructions. An administrative fee of €50 is charged for a duplicate. Once payment has been received, the duplicate of your diploma and/or diploma supplement will be delivered to the faculty secretariat. The secretariat will then contact you as soon as it's available.

Graduated before 2012-2013?

Duplicates can no longer be issued for diplomas awarded up to and including the 2012–2013 academic year. You can, however, still request a graduation certificate or transcript of records.

Need a certified copy of your diploma and/or diploma supplement?

Please contact your faculty secretariat.

We will review your request. You can then bring copies you already have or the original documents, which can be copied on site. We forward the copies to the Rector for signature and add a VUB Rectorate stamp and date stamp to the back. Once this process has been completed, you can collect the certified documents.

Translation of your diploma

Some foreign universities, employers, and authorities require an official translation of your diploma by a sworn translator. Addresses of translators can be obtained from the court of first instance:

Does an employer, educational institution or other organisation need confirmation of your VUB degree?

Then you can request a diploma verification. Employers and external organisations can also submit a request to verify the authenticity of a VUB alumnus’s diploma.

Requesting verification

Send your request by email to alumniverification@vub.be.
If applicable, attach the required documents, such as:

• the alumnus’s consent to share their information;
• a form provided by the employer, educational institution or other organisation;
• any other relevant supporting documents.

Make sure you include all required documents. Incomplete requests cannot be processed. Once the VUB receives your request, we will check whether the diploma details can be confirmed and follow up accordingly.
