The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We apply the principles of the Flemish and Brussels governance decrees, which implement European Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
This accessibility statement applies to the website: https://www.vub.be.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. “Partially compliant” means that some parts of our website do not yet fully meet these standards (see below).
Non-accessible content
Despite our efforts, we are aware of the following limitations:
- PDF documents and downloads: Some older PDF documents (published before 2018) or complex academic reports are not fully readable by screen readers. We are working on converting key documents into accessible HTML pages.
- Video content: While we aim to provide subtitles for all new videos, some older videos or live streams do not yet have full transcripts or audio descriptions.
- Complex charts and maps: Some interactive maps of our campuses are difficult to navigate using a keyboard alone.
- Third-party content: We use external tools (such as certain registration modules or social media widgets). Although we select partners with accessibility in mind, we cannot always guarantee the full compliance of these elements.
Date of preparation
This statement was prepared on 23 April 2026. The compliance of the website was assessed through:
- A self-assessment carried out by MarCom VUB
- An audit conducted with the assistance of Randstad Digital Belgium
