Citizen Science is a collaborative approach that actively involves communities in scientific research, generating knowledge and driving local action. In the context of sustainability, it empowers individuals, particularly those directly affected by environmental challenges, to participate in data collection, analysis, and decision-making. Engaging local communities in scientific inquiry strengthens the understanding of critical issues such as water quality, biodiversity, and climate resilience while fostering environmental stewardship. Bridging science and society, Citizen Science enables communities to identify challenges, co-develop solutions, and advocate for informed policies, advancing sustainability through inclusive knowledge production, behavioral change, and long-term environmental management.
