This High-Level Lecture will welcome Ms Lucilla Sioli, Director of the European AI Office, to discuss the governance of artificial intelligence at the EU level. Ms. Sioli is a leading the new EU AI Office in Brussels. This Office has been established in 2024 to become the centre of AI expertise across the EU. It plays a key role in implementing the AI Act, and in particular regarding general-purpose AI models.  While presenting the general approach of the EU towards the governance of AI systems, Ms. Sioli will provide her perspective on the capacity and role of the EU in the broader AI global governance landscape, and particularly in light of ongoing geopolitical shifts.
