The VUB Green Team and the Infrastructure Department, in collaboration with the Brussels project Bûûmplanters, are taking action to make the VUB campus a little greener. Bûûmplanters is a non-profit organisation that is appointed by the Brussels and Flemish Region, with the support of the Colruyt Group, to increase climate resistance in the capital.  More than 120 trees are ready to take their place in the garden of the XYI buildings on our VUB Main Campus and they need your help.

What are the advantages you might ask?

  • Extra greenery makes the campus even greener, healthier, more beautiful, and cooler for everyone who studies, works, and lives nearby.
  • A green buffer zone separates city traffic and traffic on campus, thus contributing to safety.
  • The trees will eventually grow into a new indigenous forest, a new cooling area in the Brussels Capital Region.

But we cannot do this alone. Therefore, we are making a warm call to you as our student, staff member or local resident to roll up your sleeves and plant some trees together! We will provide the trees and a place to plant them. If possible, you can bring your own shovel and gloves.

Do not forget to register first.
