Practical
Koning Albert II-laan 15
100 Brussel
Amaury Laridon, Loreline Faugier and Joachim Piret, climate scientists and VUB staff members, are calling on all VUB students, staff and friends of VUB to take to the streets.
The science on climate change is clear. What we need now is action. At the same time, cuts to universities, research institutes and public services are putting our capacity to understand, anticipate and respond to the climate crisis under pressure. Researchers from Belgian federal institutions and universities warn that continued austerity poses a serious threat to scientific research, with direct consequences for society.
These cuts do not affect researchers and institutions alone. They also have consequences for students, education, public services and society as a whole. That is why VUB climate researchers are calling on students, staff and fellow researchers to make their voices heard this week.
Coalition Climat / Klimaatcoalitie is bringing organisations, trade unions and citizens together for the Climate March in Brussels.
Scientists, experts, researchers and university representatives from across Belgium will gather in a joint block. But everyone is welcome to march alongside them. The message is clear: tackling the climate crisis requires strong science, strong public services and the political will to act on what research tells us.
