Innovative Immunotherapy Strategies
The Medical and Molecular Therapy group is dedicated to developing novel therapies to treat cancer. These therapies build on the power of our immune system, which can be trained to track, recognize and ultimately destroy cancer cells using advanced technologies, including mRNA, lentiviral vectors and antibody fragments.
When applicable strategies to treat cancer are implemented to treat other diseases, including infectious disease such as COVID and antibiotic resistant bacteria (e.g., Mycobacterium Tubeculosis). Examples hereof are vaccines and adoptive cell therapies.
Our mission: advancing more effective treatments
The team aims to advance (cancer) immunotherapies towards clinical application. We are actively involved in collaborative projects that aim to bring:
- Therapeutic vaccines into phase I clinical trials to treat colorectal cancer patients.
- Vaccines into phase I clinical trials to prevent Mycobacterium Tuberculosis infection.
- Adoptive cell therapy into phase I clinical trials to treat brain cancer (glioblastoma).
