UDC Career Award 2023

The UDC Award was created to recognize VUB staff for their contribution to university development cooperation. The award is part of the VUB Global Minds Programme, which aims to strengthen cooperation with partners in the Global South. The nominee must be an active or retired member of staff from the VUB, with a proven track record in university development cooperation, and must have an extensive network in the Global South consisting of professors, staff and students, which is accessible to the VUB community.

This year, the UDC Career Award goes to Professor Georges Eisendrath, who throughout his career has been an inspiration to students and colleagues, and has spent his career making a difference to all he has worked with. Making a list of Georges' contribution to UDC is simply impossible. What is certain is that his work in countries such as Cuba and Kenya has been pioneering and exemplary. Through numerous projects, together with local university partners, he has broadened the focus of university development cooperation. As an ICT specialist, he has also helped many local communities in their digital access and further professionalisation. It is therefore with tremendous pride that we put prof. Georges Eisendrath in the spotlight, and celebrate his many accomplishments. Please join us in the celebrations!
