The Vrije Universiteit Brussel has appointed 

​Nathalie Vlaemynck as its new spokesperson. She succeeds Sicco Wittermans, who is taking up a new challenge within the VUB ​Communications team as editor external communications and news. VUB
warmly thanks Sicco for his years of dedication and wishes him every 

​success in his new position. 

Nathalie Vlaemynck has worked in various communication functions at SNCB Europe and Lantis, gaining valuable experience in digital communications, copywriting and ​social media management. In 2020, she returned to her alma mater, VUB, where she started working as a communications officer. As of today, she is the university’s spokesperson. 

Strengthened press operation 

In addition to a new spokesperson, VUB’s Press and PR team has been reinforced by senior advisor corporate communications and rector communications Peter Van Rompaey and by Frans Steenhoudt. An ​archaeologist with a passion for science, combined with years of ​experience as a journalist, Frans takes charge of press communications relating to science and research. He will work with Lies Feron, a permanent member of the press team. Sam Jaspers (not in the group photo)

​supports the press team as press relations officer. 

The Press and PR team is part of the VUB Marketing and Communication 

​department.
