LAVA vzw (Reading and Advisory Group for Adults with Autism) is committed to scientific research and the portrayal of autism. The organisation seeks to provide an alternative, additional voice on autism, helping to reshape the way autism is perceived. For the second time, it is awarding a scholarship to a researcher with autism.
With this award, the organisation aims to highlight that autism and academic research not only can coexist but are already thriving in various research fields. The LAVA vzw Scholarship provides researchers with autism the opportunity to contribute to a positive and nuanced portrayal of autism within the academic community.
The scholarship offers a monetary prize of €1,500. This award will be given to a doctoral student or a junior postdoctoral researcher. Additionally, there will be an encouragement prize of €500 for a recent master’s graduate with the ambition to pursue doctoral research. Individuals who do not meet the required qualifications but believe their experience may be considered equivalent are invited to contact scholarship@lavavzw.be for clarification.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 14 March 2026, in Ghent. The winners will have the opportunity to briefly present their research topic. Applications for the scholarship are open until 31 January 2026.
