From Monday 27 April, the seventh season of the Campus Cup returns weekly on VRT Canvas. Once again, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) steps onto the field. Not with football boots, but with sharp minds and quick reflexes. Host Otto-Jan Ham welcomes 34 student teams. Four students per team. One degree programme. One clear goal: to take home the coveted trophy.

This season, the VUB is entering multiple teams into the competition. They will go head-to-head with teams from both universities and universities of applied sciences. The stakes go beyond prestige. At its core, the competition asks a simple question: which programme produces the sharpest minds in the country?

VUB match-ups in the opening rounds:

  • Agogische Wetenschappen VUB vs Nautische Wetenschappen AMA (week 1)
  • Criminologie VUB vs Journalistiek VUB (week 3 – internal clash)
  • Farmaceutische Wetenschappen VUB vs Rechten KUL (week 3)

A familiar format, real pressure

The format remains unchanged. Each episode features two teams competing across several rounds, where knowledge, teamwork and the ability to perform under pressure are key.
One round continues to stand out. In the second round, a single student must absorb an entirely new course in a very short time. The third round raises the stakes even further with an oral exam. Students are tested on topics far beyond their own field of study. This season includes themes such as green chemistry, overtourism and soft robotics.

Who will break the streak?

Over the past four seasons, law students have claimed victory every time. Whether that dominance will continue is far from certain. With 22 university teams and 12 teams from universities of applied sciences, the competition is wide open.

The final takes place on Tuesday 9 June. That’s when we find out which programme can call itself the sharpest in the country.
